“Champion of the Kumquat”
Roger will give and informative talk
on the history and origin of kumquats in Dade City area. He will
also explain the different types and uses of kumquats. (approx 15
min).

Packing House Tour
A tour of the Packing House which
will explain how kumquats are picked, processed, packaged and
shipped. (approx 15 min.)

Grove Tour
A tour of a kumquat grove.
This tour will cover the planting, maintenance and care of kumquat
trees for commercial production. (approx 30 min.)

Annual Open House
The 2012 Open House will
be held at the Kumquat Growers packing house
in St. Joseph
from 10:00 AM to 3:00
PM
on Thursday January 26th and Friday, January
27th,
(the two days before the Kumquat
Festival).
Roger Swain will answer
your questions about kumquats and other
plants.
The Kumquat Festival will be held
in Dade City on Saturday, January 28th from
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Come see us at the
big tent on Meridian at 6th Street in Dade
City.
Kumquat Growers packing house and gift
shop will be open on the day of the
festival.

Roger Swain talks about the kumquat. Known
as the "man in red suspenders", Roger was host to "The Victory
Garden" on PBS for 15 years. and also co-hosted "People, Places
& Plants, the Gardening Show". He also was a writer
and science editor at Horticulture Magazine. He is the author of
five books: Earthly Pleasures, Field Days, The Practical Gardener,
Saving Graces, and Groundwork.
